He is reaching for the sky. A guardian of mother nature, he is trying to pull Earth back so we can reconnect to the clean and beautiful past. With each subsequent pull, the dry and scorched land becomes more green and plush with nature. He continues to pull himself until he eventually arrives in Buyeo Gungnamgi. He has bridged East and West restoring harmony with nature.  

한 남자가 계속해서 하늘을 향해 달린다. 그는 대자연의 수호신이다. 지구를 끌어당겨서 과거로 돌아가 깨끗하고 아름다운 대자연으로 되돌리려한다. 남자가 지구를 끌어 당기면 당길수록 거칠고 메마른 땅, 지구는 풀들이 무성한 초록으로 물들고 꽃들이 피어나며, 점차 대자연으로 가득해진다. 그가 마지막으로 지구를 끝어 당기자 지구의 반대편에 한국의 부여, 궁남지로 가게 된다. 동양과 서양이 만나게 되고, 연못의 다리를 건너면 아름다운 자연을 만나게된다.

They Are There

If you don’t pay attention, you won’t see it. Nature exists and is there for us. It dances with the wind and tells us a story but we are often too distracted to notice or care. Whenever you look back, they will be there.

  주의깊게 보지않으면 그들을 볼수없다. 자연은 존재하고 우리를 위해 존재한다. 자연은 바람과 함께춤을 추며 우리에게 이야기를 들려주지만 우리는 종종 너무산만해서 알아차리거나 신경쓰지 못한다. 뒤돌아 보면 그들은 당신의 뒤에 있을것이다.

Yeo

Yeo is short for the Korean word Yeoja. The meaning is the woman. In nature women are free and there are no interruptions. Women absorb nature’s energy and become one with it. I’ve obscured the word in the beginning and end of the video to show how the water cleanses us between when we enter and leave this world. The label YEO is given to us while we are alive but is released after we surrender ourselves back to nature. 
녀는 한국어 여자의 줄임말이다. 의미는 여자이다. 자연에서의 여성은 자유로우며 방해를 받지 않는다. 여성은 자연의 에너지를 흡수하고 점차 그것과 하나가 된다.  우리가 태어나고 떠나는 이 세상을 어떻게 물이 우리를 정화시켜 주는지 보여준다. 

( 2020 펜실베니아에서 코로나기간동안 제작되었던 YEO는 자연회귀의 자연스러운 상상이다. 인공연꽃으로 제작된 타이포그라피 YEO는 여자의 약자로서 여성=자연을 이야기한다. 자연은 우리를 보듬으며 한결같이 함께한다. 옥수수콘이 모두 수확된 콘필드에서 촬영된 두번째 영상에서는 자연화되어 가는우리를 발견한다)

Leaf Bug

A man walks through a field and becomes a huge leaf bug. He sees through bug eyes and is free to fly in the sky with his wings. We came from nature and will go back to nature.

Leaf Bug was filmed during Covid in the cornfields of PA. We imagined what it would be like to become a bug and be consumed in an endless sea of nature.

It is our commentary on isolation and the loss of connection.
한남자가 들판을 향해 걸어가다 점점 거대한 잎벌레가 된다. 그는 벌레의 눈을 통해보고 자유롭게 날개짓을 하며 하늘을 난다. 우리는 자연에서 와서 자연으로 돌아갈것이다.

Leaf Bug은 미국 펜실베이아의 한 콘필드에서 코로나기간중에 촬영한 영상으로 옥수수콘이 자라나는 과정을 광활한 자연에서 바라보며, 코로나로 혼자남은 사람의 고독을 이야기한다. Leaf Bug은 한 사나이가 점점 벌레로 변화된 과정을 그린 영상이다.

Mystery Syncopation

On the bamboo mountain, you can feel the wind and hear the leaves moving around like dancers. I found a worm in the wind that was trying to go somewhere without any noise. I am the worm going to the next chapter in my life. There are always challenges and the wind is the environment that I have to fight. I am surrounded by the wind.
대나무 잎들이 마치 댄서들의 움직임과 같다는 느낌을 받을수 있다. 벌레 한마리는 심한 바람이 몰아칠때 아무소리없이 묵묵히 어디론가 가고있다. 나는 어디론가 또하나의 내 삶의 여정을 향해 가는 한마리 벌레이다. 항상 도전들과 바람, 환경에 싸워야 한다. 나는 바람에 둘러싸여 있다.

Windwalker

I shot the video in two locations: Horseshoe Bend, AZ, and Red Rock Canyon, NV this past December. Amazing landscape, red-colored rocks, and plants to explore with a 360-degree camera. I feel the air, wind, sand, rocks, and cacti. I am like the wind and can travel to a different dimension where life is untouched by time. 

호스슈 밴드, 아리조나와 레드 락 캐년, 네바다 이 두 장소에서 지난해 12 월에 촬영되었다. 웅장하고 멋진 대자연, 붉은 컬러의 바위들과 본적없는 식물들을 360도카메라로 탐구했다. 공기, 바람, 모래, 바위들과 선인장들을 느낀다. 나는 마치 바람과 같아서 방해를 받지않는 삶을 여행할수 있다.

Unity

Life is short and beautiful. I use nature to talk about life and death. A man, a woman, and other people are all living in this tiny world. We are a part of beautiful Mother Nature. She is amazing and in the afterlife, we will go back to Her. In the beginning, you will see the man and woman surrounded by a butterfly dancing tree. People ultimately go back to Mother Nature to become one.

삶은 짧고 아름답다. 자연을 통해 삶과 죽음을 이야기한다. 한남자, 한여자 그리고 다른 사람들은 이 작은 세상에 살아간다. 우리는 아름다운 대자연의 일부분이다.

Green Beetle

Man, woman, goldfish, water, trees, and the sky have become a green beetle.
We are surrounded by Mother Nature and our movements combine in beautiful harmony.
My intent is to preserve the pristine environment as a way to advocate conservation and sustainability.

남자, 여자 골드피쉬,물, 나무 그리고 하늘은 한마리의 초록색 딱정벌레가 된다. 우리는 대자연에 둘러쌓여있고, 움직임은 아름다운 하모니로 하나가된다.

Air Walk

I used a 360 camera to capture nature and art; the joys of my life. Nature at the beginning is the birth of life. The transition to the colorful city highlights the innocence of adolescence. Finally, in death, we return back to the silence of nature. The 360 view captures more than just our narrow first-person perspective which led to the title Air Walk. This is the view we have as spirits after we leave our bodies. I am the air that can fly in the sky and freely go anywhere I please. I am the air; surrounded by air.

360도 카메라로 자연과 예술을 담았다. 다채로운 도시는 사춘기의 순수함이다. 처음에 보이는 자연은 삶의 탄생이며 죽음에서 우리는 조용한 자연으로 돌아간다. 360도 View는 일인칭 관점보다 공기와 같은 걸음으로 나를 이끈다. 나는 공기이고 날아서 자유롭게 어디든 갈 수있다.
나는 공기이고 공기에 둘러싸여져 있다.

Ocean Spider

The Ocean Spider presents a different perspective of Mother Nature. The movement, clean sand, and skyline create dreamy hypnosis. I love New York City but I also love nature. After so many years of city life, I realized that I needed nature. While traveling to South Carolina’s Folly Beach I found a beautiful location where the pier was the convergence of a manmade structure and the ocean. With this piece, my goal is to bring nature to the city like a souvenir. I shot the video in the morning and afternoon to capture two different types of lighting. Each of these represents a different feeling. Early in the morning is cool and clear which gives me a feeling of calmness. In the afternoon, the brighter light and color give me a feeling of happiness.

바다거미는 다른관점의 대자연을 나타낸다. 움직임, 깨끗한 모래, 지평선은 최면에 걸려 꿈꾸는 듯하게 만든다. 사우스캐롤라이나의 폴리비치를 여행할때 부두가 인공구조물과 바다가 융합된 아름다운 장소를 발견했다. 나의 목표는 이것을 기념품처럼 도시로 자연을 가져가는 것이었다. 아침과 낮에 촬영했고 두개의 다른 빛을 담으려 노력했다. 이른 아침은 차갑고 깨끗해서 차분해지는 기분을 주었고, 낮에는 밝은 컬러가 행복한 기분을 주었다

American Bear and Blond Jenny (2014)

Taking the bear as an example, I made a story about an American bear. I talk about the American bear and Jenny which is my fantasy character. They are strangers that become friends. I like telling a story using a character in short stop motion format as inspired by Charlie Chaplin movies.

가상의 캐릭터, 미국곰과 제니에 대해 이야기한다. 낯선 그들이 점차 친구가 되어가는 과정을, 찰리채플린 영화와 같이 스탑모션 형식으로 캐릭터를 이용하여 표현했다.
